From civil engineering to self-taught software engineer
Gabriel Fono is a Software Engineer and Career Advisor living in the United States. He studied math and physics, graduated in civil engineering in Africa, then taught himself programming and became a software engineer. He worked at Booz Allen Hamilton for 3 years from 2022 to 2025, then joined SAIC, where he supports homeland security as a senior software engineer.
Today, he is building RateMyMajor.io to help students, immigrants, and career changers learn from real people and choose better paths with more confidence.
